You'll educate the adults around children and respond to a disclosure calmly.

Beyond the panic: the huge range the term covers; the two functions of self-harm (to feel / to stop feeling); why removing the ‘method’ misses the intent; ‘attention-needing’; the very much needed nuance. You'll ask the right questions without re-traumatising.

Wellness ‘gurus’ and mis/dis/mal-information; expert vs specialist vs generalist vs ‘woo-woo’; eating and body image as a system problem (schools, coaches, parents); filters and aesthetic procedures. You'll get curious about who's influencing a child.

Turning theory into trauma-applied practice: a response framework for disclosures, body-safety and consent language, working with shame, and protecting other children from secondary exposure. You'll respond in the moment in a way that prevents further harm.

Why it's not about the technology but the trusted relationship; the CPR model and boundaries that help children feel safe; moving past parent-blame to a needs-based approach. You'll coach and support the parents around the children you work with.
