Content: A certificate in understanding Cybertrauma for professionals.

This course will run over 10 months online starting Febuary 2026. Dates are sent upon enrolment.

By the end of the course, participants will be able to:

  • Understand the psychological mechanisms of cyber trauma and its impact on child and adolescent development

  • Identify different forms of online harm and assess risk using evidence-based safeguarding frameworks

  • Implement trauma-informed responses to cyber trauma in professional practice

  • Prevent further harm through proactive digital safeguarding strategies

  • Support children and young people affected by cyber trauma using appropriate referral and intervention pathways

  • Apply attachment-informed and developmental perspectives to online behaviour

  • Respond ethically and confidently to disclosures relating to online abuse and exploitation

  • Work effectively with parents and carers as part of professional safeguarding practice

  • Recognise vicarious trauma and implement protective strategies for sustainable professional work

  • Integrate current and emerging digital and AI-related risks into safeguarding decision-making
